Listings Optimization Agent: AI-Powered Recommendations to Boost Your Listings Performance

Optimizing your Google Business Profile is critical to attracting and engaging customers. The Listings Optimization Agent continuously analyzes your listings, identifies high-impact opportunities, and delivers personalized recommendations to boost your visibility and drive more traffic across all your business locations. Say goodbye to manual guesswork and hello to smarter, data-driven updates at scale.

About The Listings Optimization Agent: What it is, what it does, and how it’s different from traditional listings solutions

The Listings Optimization Agent helps businesses continuously improve their overall listing profiles. Unlike traditional listings solutions that rely on manual updates and static checklists, the Listings Optimization Agent actively analyzes your listings to uncover high-impact opportunities for improvement.

It evaluates critical fields such as keywords, business descriptions, services, and photos to identify missing, outdated, or underperforming elements. Providing hyperlocal, data-backed recommendations empowers you to enhance your local search rankings, drive more traffic, and engage more effectively with potential customers.

Its ability to scale effortlessly across multiple locations, adapt to algorithm changes automatically and deliver tailored suggestions based on local market trends—all without manual guesswork.

How It Works: How it identifies optimization opportunities, prioritizes suggestions, and recommendations

The Listings Optimization Agent continuously monitors your listings data to identify gaps or weaknesses that might impact your search performance. It leverages AI to analyze keywords and search trends in your specific market and compare your listing against local competitors.

Based on this analysis, the agent generates actionable recommendations to improve fields that matter most for discoverability and engagement, such as updating the business description and services and optimizing photos.

Each suggestion is prioritized by impact, so you know which updates will deliver the most significant improvements first. The tool clearly explains the reasoning behind each recommendation, empowering you to make informed decisions quickly.

Once you review and accept the recommendations, they can be seamlessly implemented, saving you significant time and effort. This continuous, data-driven optimization ensures your listings stay relevant, competitive, and fully aligned with the latest search algorithms, maximizing your ROI and helping you stand out to local customers.

NOTE:

Configuring Listings Optimization Agent is currently in beta.

Configuring Listings Optimization Agent

Navigation

To access the Review Generation Agent:

Click ‘Settings.’ Go to ‘AI Agents’ and select ‘Listings optimization agent.’

You will be taken to the agent’s overview page, where you can see its ‘Goals,’ configure ‘Triggers,’ and set up ‘Tasks.’

The Listings Optimization Agent periodically optimizes listings using SEO best practices to boost visibility and engagement on search engines.

  • Increase local SEO rankings by improving keyword quality and coverage.
  • Increase impressions and click-throughs from search engines.

Trigger

Under the Trigger tab, you can define when the Listings Optimization Agent should run. You can choose between:

  • Weekly – Run the agent on a specific day of the week (e.g., Monday through Sunday).

  • Monthly – Run the agent on either the 1st or 15th of every month.

The system also displays the next batch of AI recommendations along with the cycle dates, so you know when updates will be processed.

Recommendation: It is generally more effective to set the agent to run monthly rather than weekly. Keywords do not change significantly weekly, so weekly runs may generate repetitive recommendations. On a monthly schedule, however, you’ll see fresher AI recommendations with slightly higher volume and new variations compared to the previous month.

Tasks

Under the Tasks tab, you can configure what the Listings Optimization Agent should do when it runs.

Identify relevant business keywords that can generate more impressions

The agent helps generate a list of keywords that are most relevant to your business and likely to increase impressions.

Seed keywords are the base or starting keywords from which the Listings Optimization Agent generates alternative keyword suggestions. They act as the foundation, helping the agent expand into more variations while keeping your core business context intact.

Click the ‘Seed keyword selector’ to configure how the agent should identify and expand on these keywords.

In the Seed keyword selector, you’ll see the following sources for seed keywords:

  • Keywords from your business listing fields (Category and Country)
These are pre-defined keywords automatically pulled from your business category and country. You cannot edit these as they are system-generated and tailored to your business type.
  • Seed keywords from Google Search Appearance report
Within the Birdeye app under Reports > Google Reports > Google Search appearance, you’ll find keywords customers use to find your business. When this option is enabled, the agent pulls these keywords as seeds and generates alternative keyword suggestions while keeping them as the base context.
  • Seed keywords from Google Search Ranking report
Similarly, this option lets the agent fetch your ranking keywords as seeds and build new keyword ideas around them.
  • You can toggle ON/OFF the following options:
Seed keywords from the Appearance report
Seed keywords from the Ranking report
  • Add your own seed keywords
You can also manually enter up to 5 seed keywords. These act as starting points, and the agent will generate related alternatives based on them.

Click 'Save' once you configure your preferences.

Add prompts for keyword generation

You can refine how the agent generates keywords by adding prompts. Prompts give you control over how the AI selects keywords, ensuring that the recommendations stay aligned with your business goals.

Click 'Add prompt' under the keyword generation task.

Type in your prompt and click 'Add' to save.

Once added, the prompt will appear below the task. You can hover over the prompt to edit or delete it anytime to adjust your keyword generation criteria.

Deleting the prompt will remove the prompt from the task.

Find the keywords used by competitors

The agent can also identify high-performing keywords used by your local competitors.

  • You can enable or disable this task by toggling the switch. Click Competitor keyword finder to add competitor domains.

Use 'Add competitor' to enter the competitor’s name and website URL. Once saved, the agent will analyze competitor domains and fetch their keywords to expand your own keyword set.

NOTE:

You can add a maximum of five competitors.

This helps you discover what keywords competitors are ranking for, giving you more opportunities to target and optimize.

Refine keyword list by removing duplicates

This task cannot be configured manually, as the agent automatically handles it.

  • The agent removes duplicate and overlapping keywords to create a single optimized list.
  • For example, if a keyword is generated from the Seed keyword selector and the same keyword also appears under competitor keywords, the agent will automatically remove the duplicate.

This ensures your keyword list remains clean, unique, and efficient for optimization.

Categorize keywords

This task is not configurable by the user — the agent automatically performs it in the background.

  • The agent categorizes each keyword by associating it with the appropriate business profile field.
  • This ensures that generated keywords are properly structured and aligned with your business information, making them more effective for local SEO.

Recommend updated business description

This task is handled automatically by the agent, but you also have the option to add prompts to guide the recommendations.

  • The agent suggests updates to your business description by incorporating newly generated keywords.

NOTE:

It does not rewrite your entire business description. Instead, it keeps the tone and meaning consistent while seamlessly integrating new keywords.

  • This ensures your description remains authentic to your business while becoming more SEO-friendly and discoverable on search engines.

Recommend new photos to upload

This task is not configurable, but you can add prompts if you’d like to guide the recommendations.

  • The agent suggests topics for new photos your business should upload.
  • These photo suggestions help keep your business listings fresh, engaging, and visually appealing, which improves customer trust and search visibility.
  • Since visuals play a key role in local SEO and customer decision-making, regularly following these photo recommendations can positively impact engagement.

Update special hours for upcoming holidays

The agent will automatically suggest special holiday hours for your business. These suggestions include whether a location should be marked as open or closed during specific holidays.

  • This task is not configurable, but you can add prompts to refine the recommendations.
  • For example, you can prompt the agent to suggest hours only for certain holidays or ensure the recommendations follow your standard operating rules.

Submit for review

The agent will show profile recommendations for human approval before publishing.

  • This ensures that no automated changes are directly applied without your consent.
  • You can review, approve, or reject the recommendations before they go live.
  • Prompts can also be added here if you want the agent to follow specific rules while submitting items for review (e.g., “Only submit recommendations related to business description changes”).

Run Test

After you’ve configured the tasks, click ‘Run test’ in the preview section to see how the agent will function in real-time.

The results shown here are directly aligned with the tasks you’ve configured. Since there are 9 tasks in total, you would normally see 9 results.

Keywords generated – See a preview of business keywords identified based on your category, country, and seed keywords.

Competitor keywords – View the high-performing keywords identified from local competitor domains.

Duplicate removal – View which overlapping or duplicate keywords were removed.

Keyword categorization – Check how keywords are suggested for photos, business descriptions, and other profile fields.

Keyword mapping – See if any recommendations are available for mapping keywords to services. In this case, no recommendations are available.

Photo recommendations – Get suggestions for the types of photos your business should upload.

Special hours – See upcoming holidays identified, along with suggested open/close hours.

Review submission – Confirm that profile recommendations have been submitted for human approval before publishing.

This preview helps you validate the agent’s recommendations and understand exactly what changes will be suggested across your business listings.

Publishing The Agent

When the Agent is running, you must first pause the Agent.

Once paused, click ‘Publish’ to make the agent live.

Using AI Recommendations

Go to ‘Listings AI.’

Click ‘Optimize’ and select ‘AI recommendations.’

On this page, you’ll see three sections: Pending, Accepted, and Rejected.

Pending

The Pending section displays all recommendations that require your review and are yet to be accepted or rejected.

You can view recommendations categorized by Services, Photos, Special hours, and Google description. Each recommendation displays its ranking impact (High, Medium, or Low), the reasoning behind the suggestion, its potential reach if accepted, and the number of locations it applies to.

Hover over the recommendation to ‘Accept’ or ‘Reject’ the recommendation.

When you click Accept, a drawer opens on the right side of the screen showing a detailed recommendation overview. You can also see the business location(s) where this recommendation applies. Click ‘Accept’ in the top right corner to continue.

NOTE:

If it applies to multiple locations, all names will be listed. You can easily select or deselect specific locations to customize where you want the recommendation to be implemented.

After a recommendation is accepted, it moves to the Accepted section and is removed from the Pending section. The update is processed on the backend almost instantly and synced directly to your Google Business Profile (GBP).

For photo recommendations, click 'Upload,' and you’ll be redirected to the business profile page to manually upload photos. This is because Google’s policies do not allow third-party or AI-generated photos — only real, authentic photos are accepted.

You can click Reject if a recommendation is not relevant or applicable to your business.

When you click Reject, a pop-up window appears asking you to share the reason for rejecting the recommendation. Your valuable feedback helps us evaluate and improve future suggestions.

Listing recommendations will be refreshed once in two weeks, which is again configurable depending upon requirements.

Bulk Actions

Click the three vertical dots to accept and reject recommendations in bulk.

For example, after clicking Accept, you can select all or multiple recommendations at once. Once you’ve made your selections, click 'Accept' to apply them.

NOTE:

Photo recommendations cannot be accepted in bulk, as they require manual action to upload and complete.

Accepted

Click the ‘Accepted’ section to view all accepted recommendations.

Hover over the recommendation and click ‘View details.’

A drawer opens on the right side, showing the details of the accepted recommendation, including the date it was updated and who made the update.

Click ‘Give feedback’ and you can let us know what went right to help us improve our recommendations.

Rejected

Click ‘Rejected’ to view all the rejected recommendations.

Hover over the recommendation and click ‘View details.’

A drawer opens on the right side, showing the details of the rejected recommendation, including the date it was updated and who made the update.

Click ‘Give feedback’ and you can let us know why the recommendation was rejected to help us improve our recommendations.
