FAQs: Understanding 10DLC Registration Requirements
Mobile carriers (e.g., AT&T, T-Mobile) now mandate all businesses to register their texting number with 10DLC. Starting September 1, unregistered business texting numbers will face temporary suspension. Birdeye will facilitate outgoing text messages, automations, and auto-replies via a shared toll-free number, +18449090202, appending "Sent via Birdeye" to each text. Unregistered numbers won't have incoming text capabilities. Register your number promptly to avoid disruptions. Access your Birdeye dashboard and complete registration via the link on the top banner. 10DLC Reseller FAQs
Who is requiring a 10DLC registration?
This requirement is being enforced by wireless carriers like AT&T, Verizon, and T-Mobile. Failure to comply with these guidelines will lead to restricted messages.
Why do I need to register my business for 10DLC?
Carriers are imposing registration requirements for businesses that wish to use text for business purposes. The level of strictness of these requirements varies among carriers based on trust score and text message output. In order to make sure you can continue marketing via text, you must register.
What are the benefits of a 10DLC registration?
By registering your business, there are numerous benefits within the messaging ecosystem. It enhances trust by providing transparency regarding message senders and the content within the message. Businesses can gain the advantage of faster message delivery, and it serves as a preventative measure against malicious activities, making it increasingly challenging for spam and abusive text to occur.
What happens if my business does not register for 10DLC?
Unregistered businesses will experience message filtering or throttling by cellular phone carriers before July 31, 2023, and a halt in all messages beyond that date.
What countries does this affect?
United States.
What information is required to register?
To register, you will need to provide general business details (business name, address, etc.), industry, business type, URL, registration type, EIN, text opt-in process, and two business contacts which include mobile numbers.
What are the registration types?
There are two registration types, low volume, and standard volume.
What is the difference between the registration types?
Low Volume is for customers with a daily messaging volume of 6,000 texts or less per day, with a one-time registration fee of $19 and a monthly fee of $1.50.
Standard Volume* is for customers with a daily messaging volume of more than 6,000 texts per day, with a one-time registration fee of $59 and a monthly fee of $10.
*Trust Score determines the daily limit.
What is a Trust Score?
A Trust Score is assigned during Standard Brand registration with The Campaign Registry (TCR - the 3rd party that administers the US wireless carriers' new registration system). When an A2P Customer Profile registration for US 10DLC messaging is submitted to Twilio, we send this information to TCR for review. Twilio also submits the Brand for "secondary vetting," which assigns a score from 0 to 100 and gives access to higher default throughput and message limits toward US mobile carriers.
The Standard Brand registration process uses a reputation algorithm to review specific criteria relating to your company and then assigns a “Trust Score.” In short, the higher your Trust Score, the higher your messaging throughput (MPS). Note: Sole Proprietor and Low Volume Brands do not go through "secondary vetting", and are not assigned a Trust Score.
Throughput is fixed based on their corresponding use case. Trust Scores are static and do not automatically change over time.
T-Mobile will also impose daily message limits on its subscribers. For complete details, see T-Mobile's daily message limits for long code messaging with A2P 10DLC.
What if I am not satisfied with my Trust Score? Can I appeal?
Low Trust Scores can result from the following:
- Data discrepancies in the information you submitted in your A2P registration, such as a different address than the one associated with your official business registration number (e.g., EIN).
-
A small brand footprint
Smaller organizations and those with less business presence will receive lower scores.
