How do I create multi-location Webchat widgets for my business website?
Birdeye allows businesses to create Webchat widgets that support multiple locations and can be customized individually. After a widget is created, you can directly email the embed code to your webmaster to embed the widget on your business website. Birdeye also gives you the ability to disable/enable the Webchat widget on your business website without changing the Webchat code.
SETTING UP WEBCHAT (MULTI-LOCATION ACCOUNT)
To begin, log in to your Birdeye account and click on the 'Settings' tab on the left navigation rail, then navigate to the 'Inbox' tab and select the 'Webchat' option. Now you will be able to view all the Webchat widgets existing within your account.
You can view a default widget that will be created for all locations. If you want to create a new widget for multiple locations, click the 'Create widget' button on the top right.
A widget drawer opens on the right side that allows you to name the widget right under 'Widget name.' Select your desired locations this widget will apply to. You can also select all or multiple locations and click on the 'Create' button.
You can select the widget to apply based on the location hierarchy such as State, Region, and Area of your business. Click on the dropdown icon right next to 'locations' to select a location hierarchy.
On the next screen, you can customize the widget under the 'Chat bubble', 'Chat window', 'Chat header', 'Chat flow', and 'Chatbot' tabs. After customizing the widget, click on the 'Save' button. To learn how to setup Webchat on your account, read the help center article: How do I setup Webchat?
Now, a success message will appear on the top and the new widget will be visible on the 'Webchat widgets' page.
On clicking locations, the widget drawer will open to select locations and edit the widget name.
DIFFERENT ACTIONS AVAILABLE FOR WEBCHAT WIDGETS
Birdeye allows you to take different actions on the existing Webchat widgets. Go to the widget and hover over a 'Three-dot' icon and click on the 'Actions' drop-down menu.
Now, you can view the following actions:
Action | Details |
Edit | This option allows you to edit the settings for an existing widget. |
Email webchat code | This button allows you to email the widget code to your webmaster directly. You can enter multiple email IDs to send the code to different users. To learn more about this feature, read the help center article: How do I embed the 'Webchat' widget on my business website? |

WEBCHAT WIDGET ON BUSINESS WEBSITE
After the Webchat widget is embedded on the business website, the web visitors will be able to send messages to your business during business hours or later. NOTE: On a multi-location account, the customer must select the business location on the Webchat widget to initiate a chat. They will be able to view the location details including the state, city, and street address of the business.
